Ashtakoota milan compares the Moon signs and nakshatras of two people across eight factors, called kootas. Each carries a fixed number of points.

Traditionally, 18 or more is treated as acceptable. But all eight kootas come from the Moon alone, so two people can score 30 and still have difficult charts, or score 16 and be well suited. A score is a starting point, never a verdict.

Is 18 gunas enough for marriage?
Traditionally, 18 or more out of 36 is treated as acceptable. On its own, though, the number is a weak guide, because all eight kootas are drawn from the Moon. Acharya Shweta reads both full charts before saying whether a match is well supported.
Is Manglik dosha a reason to reject a match?
Not by itself. Whether Mars creates a real concern depends on its house, sign, strength and aspects, and on cancellations recognised in classical texts, in both charts. “Manglik” labels from automatic calculators often do not hold up on a careful reading.
Can astrology tell when I will get married?
It can point to periods when marriage is more likely, using your 7th house, Venus, Jupiter and the dasha you are in. It cannot fix a date or override your own choices.
Do both people need to attend?
